Welcome to the unofficial start of summer. Now touch your nose.

That's right.

While you'll be happy to bust out your boardshorts and beer, cops will be working overtime this holiday weekend to bust drunktards on the road.

Sorry to harsh your Friday mellow. But here are the details:

The LAPD has been nice enough to warn you that it will be on the lookout …

… Tonight, with a DUI checkpoint from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Devonshire Street and Chatsworth Street in Chatsworth.

… And on Sunday all over the LAPD's “Northeast Area” (that includes Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Echo Park, Highland Park, Eagle Rock, etc.).

But L.A.'s not the only place you should be vigilant about your alcohol levels behind the wheel.

The California Highway Patrol is everywhere you want to be. It's “maximum enforcement period'' starts at quittin' time — 6 p.m. — and goes until the end of Monday. That means all hands on-deck.

Believe that.
