Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Fatal Crash near Gettysburg Avenue

FRESNO, CA (May 3, 2024) – One male pedestrian died early Tuesday morning, a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Polk and Gettysburg Avenue shortly after midnight.

Investigators suspect that the driver of a vehicle hit a male pedestrian and left the scene without informing the authorities.
 
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male pedestrian with fatal injuries. He was subsequently transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
Fresno Officials have only identified the deceased pedestrian as a man in his 40s. Investigators believe that he was hit by an unidentified vehicle while walking northward.
 
Emergency personnel temporarily closed off the area for cleanup and initial procedures. Authorities have not provided further details about the suspect or the vehicle involved. Police urge anyone who witnessed the fatal hit-and-run on Polk Avenue to contact the Fresno Police Department at (559) 621-7000.
