Dennis RomeroA suspect who cops say was captured on video dragging a helpless puppy up and down a Southwest L.A. street was in jail this week, facing suspicion of felony animal cruelty, the LAPD announced.
The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Dossey James. A neighbor captured the scene on video, and the department released still photos, seen here. (Warning: The photo below is more graphic).

… Dossey actually had faced “another similar incident of animal abuse alleged against James.”
What possible, sick motive could have been involved here wasn't made clear.
Cops said the puppy refused to walk before being dragged down the middle of a street on Jan. 3. Witnesses said the canine was “leaving a blood trail,” but the suspect continued to drag it, police said.

The pooch had lacerations to its legs and stomach but was expected to make a full recovery, the department said.
James was charged last week with two felony counts of suspicion of animal cruelty, police said. He was jailed in lieu of $145,000 bail.
The case was investigated by the LAPD's Animal Cruelty Task Force.
