Mangled victims and car parts were spread along a half-mile stretch of Roscoe Boulevard in Van Nuys after a late-model Corvette, thought to be speeding, veered out of control and crashed, killing all inside.
“Remains of four persons have been discovered at scene,” Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey stated in an alert issued after the crash at 16644 Roscoe Boulevard. At least three people were believed to have been in the “C6” Corvette, with another victim either inside or on the street when the crash occurred.
Humphrey reported the accident shortly after midnight Thursday. No other vehicles were believed to have been involved. The “s”-curved street was closed between Hayvenhurst Avenue and Balboa Boulevard, next to Van Nuys Airport, for more than five hours as authorities investigated.
Names of the victims were not available.
