“Until recently, macarons have been difficult to procure in the United States,” or so says the New York Times, in an otherwise lovely story about the airy French cookie. Macarons may be hard to find in the Big Apple, but here in Los Angeles, we have plenty of them.

Food writer Lesley Balla (also a contributor to Squid Ink) offers a nice roundup on this Good Food episode, suggesting Jin Patisserie, Euro Pane, Lemonade, Milk (which makes macaron ice cream sandwiches) and, our favorite, Paulette Macarons, now renamed Lette Macarons. Already established with a store in Beverly Hills, Lette Macarons opened a Larchmont Blvd. location in late September. (You can also find Lette Macarons at Joan's On Third.)

To that list, we'd add the raspberry macarons at La Maison du Pain, Les Macarons Duverger and the recently opened Bouchon Bakery.
