Benjamin Curtis became every wannabe-shoegazer's idol in 2008, when School of Seven Bells unleashed its floating-through-the-stratosphere fuzz-pop on the world — finding the ex-Secret Machines guitarist situated squarely in between fetching identical twins Alejandra and Claudia Deheza (whose harmonies were equally fetching). Their album “Alpinisms” sounded like the Cocteau Twins had found the Postal Service, one of those records you swear make your ears move farther apart. SVIIB, as they are abbreviated, will release the follow-up “Disconnect From Desire” on July 13, and Curtis and company have added a live drummer to supplement those machine-made beats. Count on tonight's show at the Echo to be fairly … well, echoey.

Elsewhere: Speaking of harmonies, the Living Sisters (featuring the twining vocals of L.A. songstresses Eleni Mandell, Inara George and Becky Stark) play the Hotel Cafe behind their new release “Love to Live.” … Pop-punkers Cute Is What We Aim For broke up in 2009, but now newly sober frontman Shaant Hacikyan has taken the name, gone solo and assembled a new lineup, which plays the Troubadour tonight. … And Hot Hot Heat kicks off its residency at the Bootleg Theater.

Also: Speaking of residencies, Billy Howerdel's Ashes Divide on Wednesdays this month at the Viper Room; Miike Snow's third sold-out L.A. show in five night at the Fonda Theatre; Daedelus and Nosaj Thing at Low End Theory at the Airliner; Friendo and Gamble House at Spaceland; El Ten Eleven at the Silverlake Lounge; Junior Cat at the Echoplex; John Wicks & the Records at the Mint; and Mack Winston & the Reflections at 3 Clubs.
