Leyla Blue at the Moroccan: New York buzzing singer and songwriter Leyla Blue put out the “Jane Doe” single at the tail end of last year, the follow up to “What a Shame,” and it kinda exploded. 2 million TikTok impressions wasn’t a band start, and it are from there. Hear that song and more at the Moroccan.
According to the press release, “NYC native Leyla Blue started her musical journey at only 12 years old, after being inspired by Christina Aguilera and the icons of the early 2000’s. A teenage obsession with Amy Winehouse finally pushed her to pursue a lifelong music career, crafting her staple sound which combines raw lyricism with nostalgic R&B pop. Leyla, who has struggled with depression and an eating disorder, uses music as a tool to rewrite her own narrative. Now 23 years young, Leyla embarks on a new era with a full musical and visual arsenal at her back, ready to command the pop limelight on her own terms.”
“Releasing on November 9, Leyla channels her innermost femme fatale in the drop-dead single ‘Jane Doe.’ A collaboration with multi-instrumentalist phenom, MAIKA and Joe Kirkland (Blackbear, Dua Lipa, Maroon 5). ‘Jane Doe’ is the first of three singles to be released in the next five months, and has already amassed 2,000 pre-saves on Spotify, and over 2 million impressions teasing on TikTok. This is the first single, which will culminate in a TBC dated project for 2023.”
Leyla Blue at the Moroccan: The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 10 at the Moroccan Lounge.
