What's the cruddiest possible scenario for a guy with (alleged) child porn on his laptop?

Lawrence Tibbals Beal of Moreno Valley might hold the world record for worst luck-having by a suspected pedophile.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the 63-year-old resident was arrested last Sunday for allegedly possessing massive amounts of child pornography. But the arrest was only the tail end of a series of very unfortunate events (well, fortunate for the panicked parentry of Riverside County, but unfortunate for Larry Beal):

On Sunday, July 29, 2012, an officer from the Moreno Valley Police Department responded to a residential burglary in progress and two suspects were detained. During the course of this investigation officers obtained information about a prior burglary in which computer equipment had been stolen. This computer equipment reportedly contained hundreds of videos depicting child pornography.

Two days and a couple search warrants later, Beal was behind bars under $50,000 bail.

So the burglars either told police they had stumbled across Beal's alleged porn machine, or something they did/said gave the dirty laptop away.

The exact investigative journey from Point A (burglary attempt) to Point B (raging child perv) is left purposefully mysterious by the sheriff's department, but one thing's clear: Beal got his computer stolen by the wrong bumbling thieves. From the Los Angeles Times:

Three suspects were arrested for the alleged break-in, including two juveniles.

One of the suspects allegedly admitted committing a second burglary: stealing Beal's laptop computer, authorities said. According to a statement released by the sheriff's department, the burglars were trying to extort money from Beal.

Oh, Moreno Valley. We know how mad you get when we brush you off as weird inbred hick-town — but you have to admit, this one's rich. Oh, and now he's running for Moreno Valley City Council.

The sheriff says Beal was living in the 23900 block of Pine Field Drive. His neighborhood appears to be a desert version of the suburban hell in in Weeds:
