A “unified protest” involving representatives of three people in controversial, videotaped confrontations with the LAPD was set for Wednesday afternoon outside the department's downtown headquarters.

Civil rights activist Najee Ali said the one-hour demonstration was scheduled for 2:30 p.m.

… family members and/or lawyers for the three, Ronald Weekley, Jr., Michelle Jordan and Alesia Thomas, have given the green light for the “unified protest against police brutality.”

Weekley would likely be there, he said. Jordan had a court date over allegations that she resisted arrest in her clash with cops caught on tape, Ali said. Thomas died in her confrontation with officers.

Attorney Benjamin Crump, who has been helping out with Weekley's case, would be a speaker at the event, according to Ali.

In a statement emailed to media, Ali, director of Project Islamic HOPE, added:

This rally is a unified effort to hold the L.A.P.D. and Chief Beck accountable to help end police violence against community residents. Alesia Thomas died in police custody after being stomped on and kicked in her groin area after being handcuffed and subdued by police officers. Michelle Jordan and Ronald Weekley, whose arrests were captured on videotape, were both physically abused by police officers while handcuffed.We cant allow the L.A.P.D. to go back to the days of Chief Darryl Gates and Bernard Parks.
