A war hero's procession in honor of fallen Los Angeles police Officer Robert J. “RJ” Cottle will travel from City Hall to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angeles Tuesday morning, city officials announced.
They also warned that traffic would be tied up downtown in the hours before the procession's 8:45 a.m. arrival at the cathedral. Cottle was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan last month while serving as a Marine Corps Sergeant Major. He had been called up for active duty while serving as a reservist. He was a Los Angeles Police Department SWAT senior officer.
Motorists are being warned that the area could be difficult to navigate starting at 6 a.m. In particular, First Street, Broadway, Spring Street, Temple Street, Hill Street, and Grand Avenue will be closed at times as the procession moves through the area.
Bus service will also be routed around the procession.
