Talk about runaway production — L.A. can't even land a role to play itself in the movies these days. A news item working through the pipeline today notes that Battle: Los Angeles (no, it's not about budget fights), will be filmed in Baton Rouge and elsewhere in Louisiana. The Associated Press describes the Aaron Eckhart vehicle as a “sci-fi movie about a marine platoon facing an alien invasion.”

Now, I guess it's one thing to use New Orleans, LA as a stand-in to look like a ruined, futuristic version of L.A., especially since so much of our downtown is being cleaned up by gentrification. But Baton Rouge? They don't even have a Grove or ArcLight! Not to mention Trader Joe's — the nearest ones are in Georgia!
