Michele StuevenOn Bastille Day, Friday, July 14, Caviar Kaspia on Melrose Place will transform its al-fresco space for a one-day party celebrating France, featuring all-day $10 French 75s, a special $35 bouillabaisse, and happy hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Later throughout the evening, Kaspia’s Marseille-born chef Antoine Teychene will be DJing with afro-funk beats. Then on National Caviar Day, Tuesday, July 18, the caviar will be flowing during Kaspia’s signature jazz night with caviar specials including toro tartare; and a $100 caviar flight featuring some of Kaspia’s prestige collection.
Also on Friday, July 14, starting at 4:30 p.m., Coucou in Venice will celebrate Bastille Day by serving classic French dishes plus a Francophile-approved Domaine Ott Frosé, freshly baked mille-feuille by Baked on Rose, alongside the charming bistro’s ice cold martinis, steak frites and special desserts for the holiday.
Giving Back: To celebrate the 15th anniversary of The Americana at Brand in Glendale, Bourbon Steak will donate 15% of all proceeds on Saturday, July 15, to Ascencia. Ascencia’s mission is to lift people out of homelessness, one person, one family at a time. Reservations can be made HERE.

At King’s Fish House on Tuesday, July 25, the Calabasas restaurant will donate 25% of all proceeds from the Oyster & Raw Bar on that day to Brandon’s Village Project of the Calabasas Community Foundation in collaboration with Unlimited Play. Brandon’s Village at Gates Canyon Park is an inclusive and accessible playground for children with disabilities. Missing from the park is the Hawk Climber — a centerpiece and representation of Calabasas that this event will help fund. This event is a part of the yearlong celebration of the Commons at Calabasas’ 25th Anniversary. Reservations can be made HERE.
OpenTable has partnered with Cherry Bombe magazine and media company that celebrates women in the culinary world, to co-host Sit With Us, a community dinner series featuring one-night-only exclusive dining experiences. Spotlighting female-fueled restaurants in New York, Los Angeles, Austin and San Francisco, a portion of the proceeds from each Sit With Us dinner will benefit a local charity of each restaurant’s choosing along with the opportunity to network with Cherry Bombe’s Kerry Diamond and other inspirational women leaders in hospitality. On Monday, July 24, the Sit With Us series will pop up at A.O.C with chef Suzanne Goin to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, dedicated to changing the lives of children with cancer. Bristol Farms and LA Explained are teaming up for a super fun TASTE OF: LA Gourmet Tours each Saturday and Sunday (from July 22 – Aug. 6) to navigate to some of the city’s most delicious destinations and explore an exciting blend of architecture, culture and cuisine on an open-air, double-decker Starline tour bus.
The tour will include a bowl of chili from one of the city’s most legendary restaurants – Chasen’s. Nestled within the Bristol Farms on Beverly Boulevard, the space that once housed the Old Hollywood hotspot, will showcase an extraordinary collection of archives and ephemera in addition to serving up the famous chili recipe. Retro by Voltaggio, the new Las Vegas restaurant from television stars, judges and celebrity chef brothers Michael and Bryan Voltaggio, will roll out the red carpet to host a summer prom series at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Starting Friday, July 28, and continuing the last Friday of every month through September, the event will feature a dance floor with a live ‘80s cover band, Jungle Juice punch bowl, themed photo opportunities, a prom king and queen coronation, and a prix fixe dinner from the brothers’ new menu.
Guests are encouraged to live their prom night fantasies by arriving in their finest ‘80s attire, as the night will begin with a prom picture, elevated by an optional boutonniere and corsage. Attendees will then be escorted to the bar where they will receive a glass of “spiked” punch to enjoy while they decide who to nominate for the night’s prom king and queen. A seated dinner will feature a shared menu of Retro’s nostalgic dishes followed by a dessert buffet complete with a chocolate fountain. Guests will then proceed to the dance floor where the cover band will play the best of the ‘80s before announcing the winners for prom king and queen.

Retro will kick off the night with a pre-set dinner menu by the award-winning culinary duo including:

Tickets for the event are $150 per person and include dinner, one complimentary glass of Jungle Juice punch and a prom-themed photo. Guests can level up their night by opting for an unlimited drink package for $70 per person. Those who want to really dress for the occasion can purchase a boutonniere and/or corsage for $75 per combo.
