LACMA was swarmed with well-dressed Angelenos during this past Saturday's ninth annual Museum Free-for-All day, during which SoCal museums offered free admission. You might expect to see fashionable types just steps from the Wilshire May Company Building, which currently hosts the sartorial magic that is the “Diane Von Furstenberg: Journey of a Dress” exhibit.
As the crowd at LACMA demonstrated, what Angelenos really get right when it comes to dressing is the effortless ability to mix high and low, vintage and new. Check out these photos and descriptions of some of the best outfits.

These two cuties were spotted inside the von Furstenberg exhibit. The prints on their outfits complemented each other as well as the entire installation.

Necklace: from Hong Kong. This piece in particular really caught my eye as it was trending on Spring/Summer 2014 runways. Deemed by Harper's Bazaar as the “New Necklace,” it sits like a choker but opens in the front to allow for embellishment – as Angie's does with two large pearl-like pieces. Very Chanel!

Buckled shoes: Jeffrey Campbell. A little shoe history on this badass silhouette: Balenciaga first came out with the cut-out buckled boot in Spring 2011, then reissued the shoe the following season with gold hardware, coming in at a whopping $1,200. Then, in true fashion form, this style trickled down from the luxury market into the hands of fast fashion to be made affordable for the rest of us broke girls. But Jeffrey Campbell's version, named the Coltrane (as seen on Nicole above), is the most infamous out there on the streets.

This couple's outfits are on the pulse of the satirical street wear movement. Over-branding with logos (appropriated and original) all over t-shirts, sweatshirts and sweatpants has been huge in the underground fashion scene here in L.A. and New York for quite a few seasons.

Out in front of Chris Burden's Urban Light installation was this adorable girl named Jameson (coolest name ever) taking photos. She had a very East London look going on with the military-inspired epaulet coat and plaid baby doll dress.

Back inside the Dian Von Furstenberg exhibit was this vintage-clad beauty, Shana, who owns an Etsy shop called Trust Fund 21 that's chock full of vintage leather purses and other 70's vibe goodies. Her denim jacket featured tons of vintage patches found at the Rose Bowl Flea Market that her friend sewed on for her.

This gorgeous couple were celebrating their sixth anniversary together starting with a night at LACMA – chic! Obviously their outfits complemented each other – her fuzzy grey cropped coat was a nice texture against his all-leather western button down top.

This guy's jacket was a beautiful burgundy color with a thick green flannel lining on the inside. His outfit was simple yet classic and he totally looked put-together. See guys, it's not that hard to dress well!

Jacket: Penfield. It's refreshing to see a really cool jacket that actually isn't by North Face, Patagonia, or Columbia for once. Penfield is a classic American outdoor clothing brand that started in Massachusetts in 1975, and was one of the first brands in America to start using rip-stop nylon for their jackets.

Antonio's jacket was a great statement piece. The bright mustard wool coat, featuring toggle buttons, had great contrasting leather sleeves. He did the jacket justice by pairing it with simple straight leg jeans and black studded boots.

This girl's pared-down look was effortless but still chic because she stuck with a minimal color palette of cream, black, and a perfectly washed out denim. The oversize black coat is exactly the silhouette that's trending right now. It's a throwback to the big bulky coats power women in the 80s wore – and luxury brand Carven is one of the top runners for bringing this boxy coat back within the past two seasons.
