L.A. was well represented in the Bay Area over the weekend when a local man was arrested for allegedly sneaking into the San Francisco Zoo and then running through an exhibit featuring giraffes, zebras and ostriches.

Why did he do it? Cops say Justin Montgomery, 24, didn't want to pay the $15 cost of legitimate entrance:

That's according to a report in the San Jose Mercury News, which says Montgomery was cited on suspicion of trespassing and released after zoo employees held him for cops.

Before that he had quite an adventure. Allegedly.

Police say the Angeleno ran through the African Savanna exhibit, the Greenies Conservation Corner and the Primate Discovery Center before he was captured by zoo workers near the West African baboons.

It all happened about 11:15 Sunday morning, police said.

No animals were harmed in the making of this caper, but some of them were secured by employees just in case, a zoo spokeswoman told the Merc.
