Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn on Tuesday called for City Hall to stop doing business with companies based in Arizona following the state's enactment of a law that empowers police to search for illegal immigrants and ask suspected illegals for documentation.

Hahn was scheduled to introduce the motion Tuesday, but it would not be taken up until May 4. “The resolution will call for Los Angeles, and all of its departments, to end any and all contracts with Arizona-based companies and to stop doing business with the state,” according to a statement from Hahn's campaign. She's running for Lieutenant Governor of California.

Earlier Tuesday we wondered aloud why Latino-centric Los Angeles was beaten to the punch by San Francisco, which has called for its own boycott of Arizona.

We said it was an easy issue to tackle and, if we know the L.A. City Council, it loves easy issues (banning cat declawing and the like). It certainly can't balance the budget, and it seems to barely know what it's doing when more complex matters come up.

This is a shoo-in. Si se puede, Han-eese, si se puede.
