It might be overwhelming to focus in on the daunting number of works at photo l.a., a virtual global gallery of works from world-class photographers. Who to view first? Ansel Adams? Robert Mapplethorpe? Anthony Friedkin? No matter. Wherever you gaze, it's a feast for the eyes. Along with contemporary and vintage masterworks, there will be video and multimedia installations, lectures, book signings, technical seminars (presented by Samy's Camera), roundtable discussions on collecting and the state of photography books, private docent tours with the likes of Getty curator emeritus Weston Naef and one of the Weekly's art writers, Shana Nys Dambrot, as well as a new forum called photoBOOK, where guest reviewers offer photographers feedback on book proposals.
