The Calabasas home of Justin Bieber was raided today as part of an investigation into the alleged vandalism of a neighboring mansion.
Someone at the Bieber estate was arrested for allegedly possessing cocaine, officials told us.
The suspect might have given cops a false name, so deputies were checking fingerprint databases to try to confirm who he is, a process that could take hours, L.A. County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told the Weekly:
A search warrant was served at Bieber's place on Prado De Grandioso at 8 a.m. to “seek video surveillance or other possible evidence in the vandalism that occurred on January 9,” according to a sheriff's statement.
(Interestingly, sheriff's officials routinely give block numbers for locations of other police action but seem to leave out such information when it comes to celebrities, even when the addresses are fairly well-known).
About a dozen deputies descended on Casa Bieber and stayed there until about noon during their search, Whitmore said.
It's not clear if they came up with video, he said. Evidence was still being processed.
Eight people were at the residence, Whitmore said, and Bieber wasn't one of them. [Correction: A sheriff's official told reporters that “Bieber was present” and that he was “cooperative.”].
There is no active arrest warrant for Bieber, Whitmore said. But a neighbor reported that it was allegedly Bieber who threw the raw eggs at his expensive home.
TMZ identified today's arrestee as rapper Lil Za, a longtime friend of Bieber's.
The raid was part of the investigation into the egging of Bieber's neighbor, which the Sheriff's Department alleges caused $20,000 in damage. The department states:
Deputies from Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriff's Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to a vandalism call at 7:40PM on Thursday, January 9, 2014. The allegation is that eggs were thrown at a home on Prado Del Grandioso in the city of Calabasas. The incident is under investigation.
