It was the kind of heist you see on the big screen. Two masked men tunneled through a wall and entered a downtown jewelry store, where they took a whopping $3 million-plus worth of the sparkling goods, cops say.

While there weren't any particular stand-out items (Lohan's famed necklace wasn't among the pilfered treasure), the dudes seemed to know what they were looking for, an LAPD detective tells the Weekly.

Whoever did it, said Det. Michael Mazzacano, did their homework. They had to know something about the building to realize tunneling wouldn't be too difficult. And they seemed to zero in on valuable jewelry, although “they did take a lot,” he said.

Now investigators want your help to track down this pair. They released security video of the duo in action.

The burglary happened Feb. 19 between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. at Broadway Gold Center, 601 S. Broadway, according to the LAPD.

The tunneling involved was not to complicated, Mazzacano said: They simply broke through drywall.

Still, the move was impressive in an age of small-time stick-ups. The guys not only wore masks but they also had gloves on.

” … The suspects went through the store, methodically emptying the display cases of high- quality jewelry,” states the LAPD.

Anyone who recognizes the men was asked to call police at 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
