Happier Than Ever (Darkroom/Interscope)
Jesse Jo Stark: i’ve really never been one to have a favorite album. and i also always tend to stay clear of anything that might heavily influence me during projects. there’s so many songs that i could coin my favorites, that always stay with me.
but for the making of doomed honestly i listened to a lot of happier than ever by billie eilish. it’s so painful. it’s so beautiful. there’s angst and fear and guts. sonically so haunting.
‘haley’s comet’ is like this tragic lullaby, her voice sits perfectly over the beat n flirts with the guitar.this album feels like this ode to herself her fears n frustrations and it really hit me. love me some billie.
Jesse Jo Stark and Happier Than Ever: Jesse Jo Stark’s Doomed album and “Lipstick” video are out now. She performs at the Echo on Saturday, October 15.
