We like Fort Lowell Records. They aren't based in L.A., but we don't hold that against 'em. The year-old Tuscon seven-inch label has a commitment to both purty packaging and top tuneage, and they've tapped local scene star Jacob Safari for a new remix.

The (deep breath) former Wavves and Mae Shi member, recent Wallpaper collaborator, and current player in Signals and Bark Bark Bark has put his considerable talents to work on a song called “Alta” by AZ troublemakers Dead Western Plains.

Safari takes the psychedelic swoon and upbeat power-pop of the original and chops it, swags it out with some electronic bloops, and gives the whole thing a Animal Collective gone electro vibe. If Animal Collective wrote songs about a neglectful Jesus, that is.

The unedited “Alta” appears on FLR004 (cover art above), which is Dead Western Plains' very first physical release. For reasons that may be clearer to our readers, Safari has genre-tagged his reworking “Club Boobs.” Dig it:
