“So the World Does Not Turn Back” is the grim and stirring credo of March of the Living, the 2009 documentary directed by Jessica Sanders about the remaining generation of Holocaust survivors, who annually, silently march from the concentration camps of Auschwitz to Birkenau accompanied by thousands of young people who want to see the camps for themselves. In observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day, March of the Living screens this afternoon. It's a compelling study in extremes: the green of the countryside and the blue clothing worn by those journeying through it; extreme anguish and infinite triumph for those who have survived it; and the bright yellow flowers that grow above ground and the restless miseries that lie beneath. Walkers traveled from all around the world to pay their respects during this singular voyage. All you have to do is drive across town.
