We’ve all been there. You meet someone new and you want to know how old they are, but you don’t want to come right out and ask. Or maybe you’ve seen a photo of someone online and you’re dying to know how old they are. Well, wonder no more! Here are 6 tips on how to guess someone’s age.

1. Check out their clothing style is a quick way to guess someone’s age

Fashion trends come and go, so someone who is dressed in clothes that are currently “in style” is likely to be younger than someone who isn’t. This tip is especially useful for guessing the ages of celebrities, since they’re usually pretty up-to-date on the latest fashion trends.

2. Look at their hair.

This one is a bit trickier, since people of all ages can have different hair styles. Generally speaking, though, older people are more likely to have salt-and-pepper hair or no hair at all, while younger people are more likely to have brown or black hair without any gray streaks.

3. Check out their skin tone.

Younger people tend to have smoother, brighter skin compared to older people, who often have more wrinkles and age spots. Again, this one is tricky because there are a lot of factors that can affect skin tone (such as genetics and lifestyle choices), but it’s still worth considering.

4. See if they’re using any technological devices.

People of all ages use technology these days, but younger people are generally more comfortable with it and better at using it than older people. If you see someone using a smartphone or tablet—or even just talking about tech stuff—they’re probably on the younger side.

5. Observe their body language.

This one requires a bit of explanation. Generally speaking, people tend to get more rigid as they age—that is, they don’t move around as much and they don’t make big gestures when they talk. So if you see someone who is very animated and expressive with their body language, they’re likely to be younger than someone who is more subdued.

6. Listen to the way they speak.

This one goes hand-in-hand with the previous tip about body language; young people tend to speak faster than older people and use more slang words and phrases. So if you hear someone using a lot of slang or speaking quickly, they’re probably fairly young.

There you have it—6 tips on how to guess someone’s age! Next time you meet someone new or see a photo of someone online, put these tips into practice and see if you can accurately guess their age within a few years!
