Brendan Schaub, headlining comic and host of “The Fighter and the Kid” podcast, is a whiskey lover. He’s tried about every brand and variety out there, but he wasn’t satisfied until he rolled up his sleeves and made his whiskey brand – Thiccc Tiger Whiskey.

That’s why, as a huge whiskey connoisseur, he has some strong opinions on how to enjoy this spirit. For starters, Schaub recommends using a rocks glass instead of a shot glass. It allows you to enjoy the flavor and aroma of the whiskey without dilution by ice.

“Also, try to avoid adding water and other mixers, as this can alter the taste of the whiskey,” he says. Instead, Schaub recommends sipping the whiskey slowly and savoring its complex flavor profile. Finally, Schaub suggests pairing whiskey with food. “Whiskey is meant to be enjoyed with food,” he says. “It’s not meant to be shot or chugged.”

With that in mind, he shares a step-by-step guide on how to indulge in whiskey like a pro:

-Pour a small amount into a glass. You don’t need to fill it to the brim. A little goes a long way.

-Take a small sip and let it sit on your tongue. Note the flavor and texture. Is it smooth or harsh? Sweet or savory? The longer you let it sit, the more you’ll be able to pick up on subtle flavors.

-Swallow, and then breathe out through your nose. It will help to open up your sinuses and enhance the flavor.

-Now take another sip, letting it roll around your mouth before swallowing.

-As you savor the taste, think about where the whiskey’s story and the barrels used for aging. Remember, each step in the production process can affect the final product’s flavor.
