Born under the golden sun of Kharkiv on August 28, 1988, the melodies of Oleksandr’s early days were woven with boundless curiosity and a relentless drive for excellence. Since childhood, he questioned how the world works, searched for his purpose, and stepped out of his comfort zone. Alex grew up quickly.

The echoes of the post-Soviet Union era might have silenced many, but for young Oleksandr, they became a call to action. With selfless determination, even at the tender age of seven, he found purpose in assisting a priest as an altar boy in an Orthodox Church. It was more than service; it was a lesson in life and spirituality. His time serving as an altar boy allowed him to bring food home to assist his family. The walls of that church bore witness to a moment that would define young Alex. He looked to his priest and asked, ‘What is the best thing to ask of God?’ The words imparted, ‘Ask for Wisdom,’ became the north star of his life’s journey

His heart never knew boundaries. To sustain his family, he embraced the earth, gathering fruits and vegetables to sell, standing shoulder to shoulder with his grandmother, their shared efforts a symbol of love and survival. As years unfurled, so did his vision. Oleksandr dove into the world of clothing, assisting in his parents’ quaint store and traversing borders with his mother to source the finest merchandise. Every transaction, every bargain, was a lesson in entrepreneurship and the art of persistence.

Oleksandr’s youth was not just about commerce; it was a mosaic of leadership, creativity, and community. Founding the DiYa youth organization with friends, establishing multiple successful businesses, serenading Kharkiv with his music band, and dancing his way to third place in national ballroom competitions, Oleksandr’s life was a testament to his multifaceted brilliance. Each endeavor, a symphony of creativity, leadership, and a passion for uniting souls.

But Ukraine, as expansive as his dreams were, seemed only the beginning. Recognizing the United States as the crucible where his vast potential could truly crystallize, Oleksandr pursued and achieved a bachelor’s degree in Radio Engineering of Aircraft Systems from the prestigious Kharkiv National Aerospace University in 2009. With the ink barely dry on his degree, and a heart full of dreams, he set his sights on the vast expanse of opportunities that beckoned him from across the waters.

Oleksandr’s Odyssey to the American Dream: Triumph Amidst Trials

Recognizing the breadth of what he could achieve, Oleksandr knew that all he ever longed for was on the other side of the unknown. At the crossroads of destiny, he left Ukraine with only three things for certain: God was on his side, his new pursuit would give him an unforgettable adventure, and he would do something meaningful. With this in mind Alex boldly took the steps to transition into a new chapter of his life, leaving behind a life of achievements and the warmth of his dear family. He sold his businesses and sowed new beginnings in Wisconsin, carrying with him the life lessons of all he had previously built. Equipped with a few thousand dollars, he was prepared to build the American Dream.

His arrival in Wisconsin was met with the raw realization of building a life from the foundation up, in an arena where culture, language, and ethos spun a different narrative. Yet, Alex knew that hard work and determination were universal currencies. His undying flame never failed to illuminate a path forward. He moved to Chicago to enroll in Harper College with the goal of studying Business Administration and opening his own business one day. In order to support paying for his education Alex wore many hats—each serving as a stepping stone. From sizzling pans as a cook to racing against time as a pizza delivery boy, every twist and turn, every high and low, was merely a new lesson, a fresh opportunity. Alex’s firm conviction was that relentless effort and undying spirit were keys to success. His foundational beliefs were challenged as he shifted gears into trucking. As a truck driver he came face to face with a colossal industry that had a complete disregard for human life.

When assigned a truck that had clocked an astonishing 1.5 million miles, twice the retirement age of an average semi, Alex realized his life was tethered to a dangerously neglected piece of machinery. Driving became a dangerous dance, as the under-maintained truck posed a constant threat. It wasn’t just wear and tear, but the silent dread that each journey could be his last.

In the bitter cold of a North Dakota winter, he found himself narrowly averting a catastrophic collision with a bridge, a consequence of the company’s penny-pinching neglect of brake and tire maintenance. He was consistently met with soul shaking incidents, and the chilling reminder of the fragility of life. Yet, these pressing concerns fell on deaf ears, with the company unwilling to address the issues and choosing indifference over responsibility and safety. His near death experiences were consistently met with the complete disregard of his life and the dreams he was building. These were not random mishaps or mere machine malfunctions; they were the deafening roars of an industry that had lost its way.

The magnitude of the problem became glaringly evident through conversations with other drivers, where he became aware that widespread malpractice was painted across the industry.  Each trucker was met with subpar equipment, unfair pay, a lack of respect, and a blatant disregard for their well-being. It wasn’t just Alex’s experience; it was a chorus of grievances, shared by peers who endured employers having the unsettling willingness to roll the dice with their lives. He recognized an opportunity to rewrite the narrative for an entire logistics community by creating a company that was the opposite of what he and his friends had experienced.

In 2011 he started Dovgal Express DBA DVL Express. Oleksandr’s vision was clear: to create an oasis amidst the desert of the freight transportation industry, a haven where every employee, be they immigrant or American, felt cherished, valued, and part of a larger family.

From humble beginnings, it grew exponentially, and by 2018, with a formidable fleet of 250 trucks and the acquisition of the terminal in Markham, IL, Oleksandr’s vision was manifesting. What was once the iconic Budweiser edifice, under Alex’s nurturing gaze, metamorphosed into a campus full of modernity and eco-consciousness. The terminal now proudly includes a well-equipped gym, a comfortable lounge area for office employees with a kitchen offering healthy food options, meditation rooms, and a drivers’ lounge equipped with comfortable rooms, showers, laundry, and kitchenettes. With optimal lighting, uplifting tables, ergonomic chairs,  and all conceivable amenities, DVL Express became a center for holistic well-being and productivity. Oleksandr fostered an environment that nurtured personal growth and fostered a sense of camaraderie, ensuring equal comfort and great environment  for drivers, office workers, mechanics, and warehouse staff, making them feel like at home.

Today, DVL Express is not just a company. It’s a testament to Oleksandr’s vision—a beacon of innovation and employee-centric ethos, recognized by esteemed media like The Chicago Tribune as Chicago’s Best Workplace. Furthermore, in a world grappling with environmental challenges, DVL Express is revered for its green footprint. It shines as an example within the industry for its sustainability practices and has been nominated as one of the greenest fleets. Alex firmly acknowledges the industry’s detrimental effect on the planet, underscoring the need for positive contributions and giving back. As a result, the company actively employs sustainable practices, including tree planting and charitable initiatives, aiming to make a difference and foster a more eco-friendly future.

Awakening the True Visionary: The Wise Self

Oleksandr’s journey was not an unwavering ascent towards entrepreneurial glory. Instead, there was a phase when he seemed almost swallowed by the quicksand of adversities and personal afflictions. His passion and ambition, once like a blazing sun, were threatened by overwhelming shadows.

In his quest for the American dream, Alex became almost synonymous with his work. Days melted into nights, nights into days, with his office chair bearing the brunt of his ceaseless dedication. While there were those who lifted him up, echoing his vision, there were equally voices of doubt and distraction that seemed to multiply at every turn. He often found himself grappling with a haunting question, “Why does the world sometimes stand in opposition to those who dare to innovate, risk, and sacrifice? Why do some resist those trailblazers who, even with the looming possibility of losing everything, push forward for the greater good?”

The weight of these challenges began to take its toll. Relentless hours stretched into infinite nights, personal battles were waged, problems arose in his marriage, and an unsettling descent into stress and unhealthy living and addictions pushed him to the brink of exhaustion and despair. Alex had dedicated so much of his life to work that he lost sight of his direction and origins in the face of countless hours. Delirious and exhausted, he eventually collapsed. The pressures, both from within and from external sources, engulfed him in the suffocating grip of depression.

But his strong Ukrainian spirit would not give up. Yet, in the midst of this abyss, a light from his past emerged. A prayer, once whispered in the innocence of childhood, now echoed with profound resonance. This sacred mantra became the elixir of his rejuvenation, guiding him through a transformative journey. Finding his inner power, emerging from this crucible stronger, Alex cast away the shackles of negativity and self destruction, carving out a new, enlightened path for himself.

With a renewed focus on holistic well-being, he immersed himself in activities that fostered inner peace and strength, metamorphosing adversity into vitality. He embarked on a healing journey, purging his life of negativity and embracing practices that nourished his mind, body, and spirit, providing him equilibrium to continue pursuing his dreams. Indigenous wisdom, meditation, breath work, sound and energy healing, and a conscious diet became the cornerstones of his resurrection. Recognizing the universality of his struggle, he became a beacon for other entrepreneurs ensnared in similar battles to awaken their warrior spirits.

Reinvigorated, his personal metamorphosis cascaded into his entrepreneurial realm. Under his refreshed vision, DVL Express transformed into an oasis where the culture and vibe changed along with Alex, embracing a conscious business approach. Feeling the call for a new beginning, Alex bid farewell to his past and ventured to California. This new chapter was marked by global and purpose-driven projects and an unwavering commitment to pursue what resonates with his authentic core.

Relocating to California was far more than just a change of address; it marked a pivotal step towards realizing his dream of bettering the world. With unwavering determination, he invested all his resources into something truly meaningful. San Diego, with its breathtaking coastal beauty and dynamic culture, became the nurturing ground for the W1SE ecosystem—an acronym for The World Initiative for Sustainable Earth. At the core of W1SE’s inception lay the iconic W1SE Castle, symbolizing the very essence of the initiative’s aspirations.

But why did Alex pick a castle? In many cultures, castles have always symbolized strength, stability, and longevity. They stand tall, witnessing the rise and fall of many eras, yet still remain. By choosing a castle for W1SE, Alex wasn’t just picking a location; he was making a statement. After the Smart Era, the W1SE Era signifies humanity’s grandest chapter.

Now, he finds himself blessed with an incredible family, including his beloved partner Amalia, with whom he is happily raising their amazing child named Solomon.
