Transportation workers from the Teamsters' Hollywood Local 399 voted to accept a new contract from movie and TV producers on Sunday, avoiding the possibility of an industry-wide strike.

Earlier this month, the labor union threatened to strike if wage increases were not approved by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, the organization representing the major studios throughout Hollywood.

The new contract includes a 2 percent pay hike and increased contributions from the workers towards their health insurance costs. Though the union originally wanted a 3 percent raise, they accepted the 2 percent deal when producers offered to pay for travel expenses.

The contract was approved by 97 percent of members.
