Get dressed in your Indian best, meaning saris, sparkly shawls, glittery jewels or anything glamorous and Indian-inspired in order to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, which is also Indian New Year. The holiday lasts for five days, Nov. 5-9.

Tanzore in Beverly Hills has a full schedule of celebrations starting with the Los Angeles Mumbai Sister City Affiliation's early Diwali party Sunday (October 24) at 6 p.m. in Gaylord's Banquet Room, the party space adjacent to the restaurant.

There'll be a lavish Indian buffet, wines from Clautiere, Kiamie and Divya, which is a private label of Malibu Family Wines; an Indian dance performance, tarot card reading, henna painting, a raffle and goodie bags Tickets are $75. The beat goes on with Tanzore's own Festival of Lights Nov. 3 through 7. The restaurant will serve a three-course festival dinner ($49) the first four nights, with seatings at 6 and 9 p.m. Live sitar and Indian flute music, a DJ and dancing, a henna artist, exhibition booths and Bollywood dancers are some of the highlights leading up to an after party Saturday, Nov. 6 from 11:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.

The festival ends Nov. 7 with Children's Day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adults can sit in while the kids watch a Diwali skit, listen to stories and see a dance performance. Admission is free for tots under 2, but $5 to $10 for older kids.
