If you are the type of person who looks at a menu and hems and haws and parses and analyzes and re-considers, please, for the sake of the friends who must witness this agonizing display of indecision and self-doubt, let Guisados save you the trouble. The Boyle Heights eatery, famed for the braised and stewed stuffings that fill its tacos, offers the Taco Sampler, six mini-tacos that are handpicked for you — thankfully — from almost a dozen different options on the menu.

The tacos arrive plated like blooming buds in the ultimate edible garden, and the server will explain the choices that were made for you. Possibly, mini-tacos filled with beef steeped in salsa roja, and/or shredded chicken stewed in a chipotle-spiked sauce (tinga de pollo), and/or squash topped with cheese and corn (calabacitas). Or not. The choice wasn't yours. Which is exactly what you wanted. Right?

Yes, it's that time of year again, or almost. This is one of over 400 pieces that will be appearing in our upcoming Best of L.A. issue, out October 6th.
