Even if you've gone from “Hello Kitty” to “I No Longer Have Anything to Say to That Darn Cat,” remember the love you once shared and bring your pet to the Blessing of the Animals , starring Cardinal Roger Mahony. Happening the Saturday before Easter, its 80th (!) year, the annual tradition to “honor animals for their service to mankind” dates back to the time of 3rd-century saint San Antonio Abad. The most honorific animal in that regard is the humble cow, leading the procession of pets as they walk by the human benediction tornado that is Cardinal Mahony. Expect music, food, fun and no shortage of caterwauling, howling, fur flying (circle one or more). Leave your mole Esther at home because vaguely chucklesome insouciance will be turned away!
