You can describe the EP as a collection of soulful, driving compositions laced with EDM infused production, highlighting Collins’ enchanting yet fiery vocals and introspective songwriting. It explores themes of love, self-discovery, and personal growth, resonating with listeners on an emotional level – “Floura” no doubt showcases Kirsten’s evolution as an artist front and center with deeply personal, relatable songs that demonstrate her musical prowess and ability to connect with her audience. We had the honor of sitting down with Kirsten to get an exclusive look into her creative process, collaborative experiences, and what’s next. As it turns out, “Floura” evolved into a multi-year effort that began before the pandemic:
“Floura is a collaboration of multiple talented artists who came together to produce a masterpiece. It began as early as 2017 and has been carefully created to make a statement in the music industry. Each moment was hand picked to be felt intentionally as it connects with your heart.”
Collins is no stranger to the songwriting process, having written for DJs all over Canada, the United States, and the UK. Her talents have shined through on a number of collaborations – we’ve seen aespa’s “Savage” hit double platinum and Time magazine naming it one of the top 10 K-pop tracks of the year, all while it continues to clock hundreds of millions of streams and video views. At what moment did the song’s success truly begin to sink in for you?
“I feel that it never truly sinks in. It’s always going to be an impactful moment for me. Each day it reminds me that the impossible is possible. Just keep focused and believe.”
From singing with Demi Lovato to making viral TikTok content with Selena Gomez, Kirsten is an industry treasure respected by some of today’s most successful talents. This is no surprise when you consider she first began singing on key at only 18 months old, now boasting well over 40 million streams across her catalog as a fully independent artist. This Canadian-born, LA-based singer/songwriter was appropriately named an Innovator by The Wall Street Journal in 2017 – now she is among a select few artists alongside Timbaland to have their music-based NFT going to the moon in a SpaceX rocket.
We asked Kirsten what’s next for her musically, what fans have to look forward to, and what excites her most when it comes to creating something new:
“I’m constantly being challenged to grow and expand my perspective. I believe that is a key component in creativity. Each day I get to wake up and receive the sounds of life and mold it together into something I hope heals hearts.
I’m anticipating sharing music that has been locked in the vault waiting for its time to rise and also some new gems that reveal my last few years.”
