Last March a brand new local imprint, Friends Of Friends Music, kicked things off with a conceptually cute first release. Label head Lazy Brow (Leeor Brown, also of independent music marketing group Terrorbird) wrangled beloved L.A. electronicist Daedelus as curator of Friends Of Friends Vol. 1, laying out the concept as such:

“FoF invites an artist to join the family by signing on to do a split EP; they in turn invite another musician or group to complete the split release and commission a designer to create the EP's artwork on a limited edition T-Shirt which will include a download card [on] 100% seed paper.”

So the release is a polyblend: 50% cotton, 50% digital. Daedelus brought in his The Long Lost bandmates Jogger (the wildly eclectic duo resembles a scrappier Bassment Jaxx) and upped the ante by contracting the incredible Kozyndan to provide the imagery, visible above in all of its wearable glory.

The next collaboration (featuring Swiss misters Larytta and Bauchamp) isn't due out until September, but that first one has grown to include a few more friends: remixers. In truth, these versions were available in the “bonus pack” received by all who purchased the shirt, but they join their predecessors on iTunes and Amazon today, and we've got Nosaj Thing's remix of Jogger's “Nice Tights” for your streaming/downloading pleasure below.

Other contributors include L.A's own Meanest Man Contest and Keenhouse, as well as Eliot Lipp, Ghostly International's Michna, Graham Zilla of Thunderheist [www.myspace.com/thunderheist], Mexicans With Guns and – quite possibly – you. FoF is currently holding a remix contest, the details of which can be sussed out here. Two winning entries will be chosen – one by the artist and label; one by fan vote – to become the fifth and sixth (!) official re-imaginings of Jogger's disco-tech jam “Nice Tights.” Wannabes are welcome to tool around with the nifty mixing widget found on the same page.
