IMPASTIAMO, a women-owned business focused on promoting culture and sustainability through cooking classes, has announced a series of monthly cooking classes at the newly opened Mar Vista Love Coffee Bar. Classes start at $85 and make a good gift. There’s a charcuterie workshop just in time for the holidays and a Venezuelan Arepas class in January.
And for another unique gift idea, Death & Co has launched a collection of scents with California-based perfumer de Kloka. Founded by former bartender, Jackie Brenner, de Kloka is a small batch, botanical perfumery, and for this collaboration, she has handcrafted three unique perfumes inspired by the three Death & Co locations – New York, Denver and Los Angeles. Each gender-inclusive, 100% natural perfume evokes the places where each bar is located, while remaining anchored in the dark frisson of the Death & Co hospitality experience. The trio of scents is available now exclusively on the Death & Company Market.
The Los Angeles fragrance is all about heat and velvety suede texture. Described as ginger and orange combined with citruses like yuzu and yellow mandarin open the perfume with an aroma of jasmine white flowers and orange blossom. Notes of frankincense, myrrh and sweet incense round out the texture that is grounded in Royal Hawaiian sandalwood and Haitian vetiver
Each Death & Co x de Kloka perfume is hand-blended, bottled and packaged by Brenner in her Berkeley, California studio, from 100% natural ingredients, available at a retail price of $90 for a 15ml bottle and $270 for the trio. The base of the perfumes is organic sugarcane spirit.
Salt & Straw and Teremana, the small-batch tequila brand founded by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, will host a boozy ice cream happy hour pop-up with milkshakes and affogatos, out of a custom ice cream cart parked inside of Salt & Straw in West Hollywood from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
Tickets to the event are free, and each ticket allows guests to choose a sample-size version of one of the following:
Boozy Eggnog Shake features Salt & Straw’s Dwanta’s Teremama Spiked Eggnog, a seasonal flavor named after Johnson’s festive holiday alter-ego “Dwanta Claus,” and inspired by his favorite holiday beverage. The flavor features rich, silky custard ice cream spiced with notes of oaky vanilla from Teremana’s Reposado tequila and a splash of amontillado sherry. For the boozy milkshakes, the ice cream is spiked with additional Teremana tequila and garnished with nutmeg.
Teremana Affogato with tequila and espresso poured over a scoop of Salt & Straw’s Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons ice cream — one of its most popular flavors featuring Guatemalan fleur de sel and ribbons of hand-burned caramel.
