UPDATE: Fixed typo in Kerkorian's name. Those were the days: Sly Stallone, living in Benedict Canyon, making terrible sequels that wound up being campy masterpieces, replete with profundities like “If I can change, and you can change, everybody can change.” (That's Rocky IV.)

According to the L.A. Times, a mansion once owned by Stallone (and reclusive billionaire Kirk Kerkorian) went up in flames this morning, burning for nearly two hours before doing nearly $1 million in damage. Apparently no one currently occupies the place.

More than 100 firefighters worked to keep the fire from spreading to nearby brush. (A fire captain reminded homeowners to clear brush to stop the spread of fires. Perhaps George W. Bush is available to help in this task.)

Stallone publicist Michelle Bega said Stallone had not lived in the home in the 20 years

she had worked with him, meaning he must have lived there before 1990, when things started to get a bit lean for Sly.
