Highland Park art-rock crew Fol Chen has got a new full-length due out on Asthmatic Kitty June 6, but you needn't wait for Part II: The New December to get a taste of what's to come.

Lead-off track “In Ruins” is a funky, fuzzed-up pop collage featuring a vaguely Eastern melody and the lovely vocal stylings of L.A.'s own Kárin Tatoyan. And to the free, just-released In Ruins EP, Tatoyan contributes a drastically reimagined cover of the very same song.

Fresh and rising Anticon signing Baths, who hails from Chatsworth, remixed the song (hear that below), as did Fol Chen member/producer Julian Wass and Brooklyn crew Keepaway.

It might also help to know that the record revolves around a Pontypool-like plot involving a Long Island disc jockey and a virus that eats words.

Download the entire EP here, via the enigmatic Fol Chen website, where you can watch a PSA that may or may not succeed in complicating the narrative further.
