Anthony Kiedis and Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced a special benefit event for the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, taking place Saturday, Oct. 17. The dinner gala, concert and art auction will feature performances by John Legend and rising sax superstar Kamasi Washington, as well as a special acoustic performance by the Chili Peppers.

Flea co-founded the Silverlake Conservatory in 2001 and together with Kiedis, who sits on the non-profit's board of directors, has organized star-studded benefit concerts for it for several years. Past performers have included Neil Young, Bruno Mars and Rufus Wainwright.

“Shepherding a non-profit music school for the last 14 years has taken a enormous amount of time, energy, and patience,” Flea said via a written statement. “Having the help from our contemporaries each year at our annual fundraiser has been hugely comforting and enables us to give thousands of kids a quality music education.”

This year's benefit also includes an auction featuring works from such celebrated contemporary artists as Damien Hurst, Jeff Koons, Ed Ruscha and Shepard Fairey, as well as names more familiar for their musical and cinematic works: Gus Van Sant, Dennis Hopper and Bernie Taupin. It all takes place at an undisclosed warehouse location in Frogtown for just 300 lucky guests. Limited individual tickets and tables are still available; contact events.scm@outlook.com for further information.
