Because, why not? You like free music and so do we. Neither of us likes Mondays, so let's sweeten the pot, no? Here are five fresh MP3s from L.A. artists, with PR blurbs, a NSFW video (psychedelic boobs!), key release dates and other examples of sheer randomness. First, the boobs, courtesy of Immad Wasif's new video for “Redeemer,” off of his Tee Pee Records debut, The Voidist, out next Tuesday, October 13.

Some (perhaps) useful PR jabber:

“In another life, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Imaad Wasif might have been a poet or a priest. He draws inspiration from beyond the veil, seeking connections and cosmic patters in the hopes of expressing the simplest but most profound message to his listeners: We are not alone. The urgency of that communication, and his need to convey it, give both his delicate guitar ballads and his fervent rock songs a ferocity and focus that resonates with every note.”

Bonus: Imaad Wasif – “Priestess” (MP3)

Also hellsa trippy: Both the music and the message surrounding Omar Rodríguez-López's new album Xenophanes, out November 10. From the press release (via Wikipedia):

“Xenophanes was a Greek philosopher, poet, and social and religious critic of the 5th century BC. His pantheistic conception of the Universe supposed that everything in existence has always existed. He rejected his contemporaries' notions of an anthropomorphic “god” (or hierarchy of gods) in favor of a… global consciousness. …Little surprise, then, that this iconoclastic anomaly of a man should lend his name to a new [Rodriguez Lopez] concept album.”

Next up, local rap crew Strong Arm Steady backed by Madlib on production. In fact, said Beat Konducta produces the entirety of the group's new album, Stoney Jackson, due out November 3 on Stones Throw. According to the label's site:

“The Stoney Jackson album unfolds over sixteen tracks and is a brisk, exciting hip hop record. Krondon and Phil The Agony supply the majority of the vocals with the third SAS member Mitchy Slick; guest appearances include Talib Kweli, Guilty Simpson, Little Brother's Phonte, Planet Asia and a host of underground Los Angeles's emerging rap talent.”

On October 27, Jogger will release This Great Pressure — not only the duo's debut album, but the first release from Daedelus' own Magical Properties imprint.

“Jogger has been described as 'ADD music' — their experimental electronic sound is sometimes dangerous, sometimes poignant, and sometimes funny, but always captivating. This American singer-songwriter duo consists of Amir Yaghmai on violin and guitar, and Jonathan Larroquette on laptop and controllers, with the vocal duties divided.”

Jogger – “In America” (MP3)

And last but not least, a Phaseone remix of Fool's Gold's recent single, “Surprise Hotel.” The band's self-titled new album is out now on IAMSOUND. No press text on this one. Just a strong recommendation that you catch the group this Friday at The Roxy.
