19-Year-Old Woman Hit by Multiple Vehicles at Marysville Boulevard

SACRAMENTO, CA (September 18, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, Fatina Chaney was fatally struck by multiple vehicles along Interstate 80. Around 3:05 a.m. police failed to stop a car on Evergreen Street at Del Paso Boulevard. However, officers lost sight of the runaway vehicle around 3:51 a.m. on Interstate 80 at Marysville Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, the suspect’s car crashed at the Marysville onramp on the eastbound lanes of I-80. A woman and an unknown number of people were said to have exited the vehicle and ran across the eastbound lanes. Consequently, the woman was hit by a large vehicle, before getting struck by two other vehicles, leaving her with fatal injuries. The two drivers involved in the collision pulled over and stayed at the scene. Later, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased woman as 19-year-old Fatina Chaney. Moreover, both directions of the roadway were temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. The CHP North Sacramento Office continues to investigate the fatal incident.
