We're not sure why the end of summer is DUI crackdown season, what with all the other wonderful times of year to find drunktards on the road — St. Patrick's Day, Cinco De Mayo, New Year's Eve, at. al.
It just is.
We've got a boatload of info for you in our latest edition of LA Weekly's DUI checkpoint and drunk patrol cheat sheet. The action starts tonight:
–Tonight there will be a DUI checkpoint from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Sunset Boulevard between El Centro Avenue and Argyle Avenue in Hollywood (right near the Palladium).
–Tonight (again!) there will be a checkpoint from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Figueroa Street at Ninth Street downtown (near LA Live).
–Tonight (again, again!) there will be a sheriff's checkpoint from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. somewhere in the city of Norwalk (they're not saying exactly where).
-And, finally, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department is spearheading a late-summer drunktard roundup as part of what it calls a “summer/Labor Day national anti-DUI crackdown.”
