As a small warm-up for the massive DUI crackdown scheduled to harsh your mellow New Years Eve, police around the L.A. area are planning DUI checkpoints. Locations include West Hollywood, Long Beach and the San Gabriel Valley.
Think of this as practice for Monday, the ultimate amateur night.
We'll start this week's DUI checkpoint cheat sheet (we should have patented the term, we swear) in a lovely place called San Dimas:
-Tonight from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. there will be a checkpoint at 601 West Bonita Avenue in San Dimas.
-Additionally, there will be checkpoints in Pasadena and Whittier about that same time, although authorities are not releasing location details. (Sorry).
-Then, on Saturday, from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., Long Beach police have one for you. Again, there are few details, but the department is giving you this hint: “The DUI Checkpoint will be conducted in the East Patrol Division … “
The LBPD's website says of the division:
It is bounded by Del Amo Boulevard to the north; the Pacific Ocean shoreline to the south; Orange County cities to the east; and, Cherry Avenue and the City of Signal Hill to the west.
Hope that helps.
-And then there's this mother lode of checkpoints listed by the L.A. County Sheriff's Department for Saturday:
DUI Checkpoint – El Monte
DUI Checkpoint – El Segundo
DUI Checkpoint – Gardena
DUI Checkpoint – San Dimas
DUI Checkpoint – San Gabriel
DUI Checkpoint – Whittier
DUI Checkpoint – CHP Antelope Valley
DUI Checkpoint – CHP South L.A. Area
DUI Checkpoint – LAPD – North Hollywood Area
DUI Checkpoint – LASD West Hollywood
DUI Checkpoint – LASD Paramount
And, the sheriff's department says, there will be DUI saturation patrols tomorrow in Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Torrance, Manhattan Beach, El Camino College, El Segundo, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, UCLA PD, Huntington Park, Long Beach, Signal Hill and Vernon.
Bottoms up? No, heads up. Be safe.
