A man is looking at a possible DUI after he allegedly crashed a golf cart and then passed out on the course known as The Club at PGA West in La Quinta, cops said.

The scene out of Caddyshack was discovered, authorities said, when they were contacted by a woman who had apparently been in an accident but couldn't remember the circumstances.

She did remember one thing, however, they said:

The woman said she was with a man named Gary Osborn, 73, according to a statement from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The woman came forward with her story at 2:26 a.m. yesterday after she woke up and told course security “she had passed out on the golf course and had dried blood on her face and no corresponding injury,” according to the sheriff's statement.

At the same time, cops say, security guards came across Osborn “passed out on the grass in front of a residence on the 55-200 block of Big Spring inside the PGA West Country Club,” the department stated.

But they also found a key piece of evidence. Allegedly:

A golf cart that had not only collided with a tree but also, apparently, with a “cart barn” garage door at the residence where Osborn was discovered nearby, authorities said.

That was not the man's residence. Nor was it the woman's residence, cops said.

The scenery inspired responding cops to book Osborn on suspicion of driving under the influence, deputies said. 

Though the woman had blood on her face, cops said neither she nor Osborn were injured. The suspect, however, was checked out at a hospital as a precaution, according to the sheriff's statement.
