David Kaplan, co-owner of Death & Co in New York, and Alex Day, former D&C bartender, are bringing their cocktails to the downtown L.A. drink scene. The pair teamed up in hospitality consulting company, Proprietors LLC, and Bar & Kitchen, the bar/restaurant in O Hotel downtown, is their newest project whose operations they secretly took over this past October. The seasonal American restaurant's new focus will be market cuisine, craft beer, small production wines and classic cocktails.

Lunch and dinner prix fixe menus are available daily for $18 and $28, respectively. Wine pairings can be had for an additional $16 for lunch or $20 for dinner. Late-night downtown drinkers will be happy to know the kitchen will be open til 11pm Monday through Wednesday and til midnight Thursday through Saturday.

The cocktails on Day's list are few and classically inspired. The tequila cocktail Restoration Road has blanco tequila, lime juice, Cointreau, Lillet Blanc and raspberries. The Scotch drink, Smokescreen, features Islay Scotch, lime juice, green chartreuse and mint. Each priced at only $10 will offer stiff competition to most downtown cocktails which run $12 and up.
