It'll be a combination art show, political event and jazzy dance jam at the monthly Soul Sessions shindig in Chinatown, which celebrates four years and counting with a guest set from Om Records’ J-Boogie (his Dubtronic Science release “Soul Vibrations” is brimming with old-school hip-hop mojo). Along with fellow Frisco funkster King Most and local groover Jeremy Sole, this session should be especially jubilant. Also featuring an “Art for Change” exhibit (and Shepard Fairey Obama “Hope” Poster giveaways), plus an outdoor vendor fest. Grand Star, 943 N. Broadway; Fri., Oct. 11, 9 p.m.-2 a.m.; $10.
