A spanking new weekly kicks off the December dance card. Jason Lavitt's Club Beat It showed just how funky and strong for the fight '80s dance music could be — it lasted 10 years! But starting this Sunday, he takes on a new decade: the '90s. The promoter has done '90s clubs before, but they didn't endure, most likely because the “kids” (his crowds can be young) weren't quite ready. With Wannabe — named after the Spice Girls' anthem — we think the time has come for “new retro” sounds of hip-hop, pop, disco and electro. This one could give him another 10-year run at the Ruby on Sundays. Lavitt and Bip Jeffington spin in the main room while DJs Surge, Premium G, False Idol and Froskees take turns in the front room. Expect everything from Britney to Björk, No Doubt to Dr. Dre. Over 18. Sun., Dec. 5, and every Sun. thereafter. Ruby, 7070 Hollywood Blvd., L.A. clubwannabe.com.
