Just seven months after making its debut, San Diego's CRSSD Festival is returning to that city's Waterfront Park this October for another two-day blowout of dance music, DJs and electronic-leaning live acts. Already, Southern California's best new music festival is upping the ante with bigger-name headliners, including The Flaming Lips, TV on the Radio, Jamie xx and the godfather of dance music himself, Giorgio Moroder.

Other acts booked for CRSSD's second go-around include Panda Bear, Bonobo, Maya Jane Coles, Ben Klock, Todd Terje, Hercules & Love Affair and one of the most talked-about new EDM producers to emerge over the past two years, the mysterious Zhu. Taken altogether, the lineup is an impressive step up from the already-solid roster of the first CRSSD, which included Chromeo, Empire of the Sun, James Murphy, Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler.

Despite the EDM-heavy lineup, CRSSD organizers have done a good job of positioning the festival as a post-rave-era alternative to more mainstream dance music gatherings like EDC and Hard Summer. At the first CRSSD, rave attire was “heavily discouraged,” and the well-curated lineup, gorgeous waterfront setting, and understated production elements (no laser light shows or crazy art installations — unless you count Empire of Sun's mind-boggling set) made the whole thing feel less like an EDM festival and more like a laid-back mini-Coachella, albeit one without an air-conditioned dance tent (get on it, CRSSD!).

Perhaps in an effort to counter reports that the first CRSSD Fest did extensive damage to Waterfront Park, the press release for CRSSD 2.0 came with a statement from Joe Terzi, president and CEO of the San Diego Tourism Authority, who said, “The first CRSSD music festival had an overwhelming positive response locally, nationally and internationally. It’s great to see local promoters, designers and businesses working together to bring something unique to a space that is comparable to any festival destination in the world, San Diego’s Waterfront Park.”

Tickets for CRSSD Fest: Fall Edition go on sale Friday, July 17, at 12 p.m. at crssdfest.com. See below for complete lineup.
