Recently we introduced you to the dreamy rock of Chief, now the Santa Monica quartet are back with a new video for their harmony laden track “Night & Day.” The video debuted on MTVu yesterday and portrays the band as the entertainment for a upper crust party in a Wes Anderson-styled posh apartment. Then there's a murder, a simulated murder, which, for some reason, is even weirder than real murder. But the smoky ambiance and strange theatricality helmed by director Matt Creed seems to fit the slightly melancholic aura Chief espouses. Their debut album Modern Rituals will be released on August 17th, and the band will play two shows in L.A., including a showcase at Sunset Junction on August 21st.

But until then, watch Chief's new video after the jump.
