Fashion designer, Charley Giacobetti made her public debut on a candlelit runway to the tune of Dean Martin and Louis Armstrong last Saturday. Tucked away in the Jewelry district of downtown Los Angeles, the historical Dutch Chocolate Shop and its attendees got to be the first to see the Charley’s Denim S23 collection.
Handcrafted entirely of deconstructed vintage Levi’s from neighbourhood thrift stores and linens from vintage linen collectors— designer Charley Giacobetti showed off 14 looks that introduced a whole new realm of possibility for denim clothing. Pictured below is O Model’s, Cooper Murphy, walking the runway rocking a custom linen dress and “The Megan” top— named after one of Charley’s 4 older sisters who all flew out to be backstage supporting her.

In the attendance was a healthy mix of family, friends and “cool guests,” as described in Charley’s invitation letter, from the fashion, music and tech industries. Amongst the cool guests were Macklemore’s Audio engineer, J Thicc, budding pop star, Jamisen Jarvis and dot. Cards CEO, Jeffrey Murray. Also amongst attendees was Trent Merrill, former Senior VP of Lucky Brand Jeans.
Despite the natural inclination to try and compare, the young designer is difficult to wedge against others… Her clothes look like nothing available and her personality is equally as unique. When asked where she gets inspiration for her designs, the designer very confidentially confessed “myself”, as if she wouldn’t know what else the answer could be.

After guests enjoyed the Taco truck she pulled up to the garage door of the venue to cap the night, they departed with only one thing in mind… What’s next for Charley Giacobetti?
