UPDATE: A Blipsy Bar employee says they opened the evening after the accident, and are now operating regular hours.
On Saturday night, a car drove into Blipsy Bar and smashed through the front wall.
The Wilshire Center dive bar, which features DJ nights as well as old school video games including Rampage, Paperboy, Donkey Kong, Double Dragon, and Spy Hunter, remained closed as of last night.
According to a witness, a woman driving a white vehicle jumped the sidewalk and smashed through the front of the building and into the bar, where a birthday party was taking place. Skid marks in front indicate the car narrowly missed hitting the tree in front of the venue.
LAPD has no record of the incident. As of Monday afternoon, the building was boarded up and the front door locked.
Despite a posted opening time of 4 pm, the establishment was still closed at 5 yesterday, and calls to the venue were unanswered. Patrons waiting outside, quarters in hand, eventually dispersed after standing around for the better part of an hour.
Calls to the management were not returned, and it is unclear when the bar will re-open. If you have any information please let us know in the comments.
