Tens of thousands of Canadians flocked to Parliament Hill in Ottawa on July 1 to celebrate the country's 141st birthday. The revellers were mostly decked out in red and white – the color of Canada's flag.

The Canada Day celebrations began with a military parade through downtown Ottawa.

The celebration also included a number of musical performances including Canada's Blue Rodeo.

The musical performances were followed by a 30-minute fireworks display on Parliament Hill that started at 10:05 p.m.

The crowd was estimated at 75,000.

Canadian flags painted the streets. They were on heads, hats, faces and on sticks flapping in the warm breeze.

Early revellers were treated to a military drill and the music of the Changing of the Guard ceremony.
