Sometimes it takes a generation to understand and appreciate the notions and beliefs of the generation that came before. It's been 30 years since Don Como's 1977 documentary Aliens from Spaceship Earth captured the then-living legend of thought both fringe and evolved: Indian guru Sai Baba (who died last April), Yogi Bhajan (the conduit of Kundalini Yoga and Sikhism into the U.S.), Beatles favorite Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Divine Light leader Guru Maharaj Ji (who currently spreads a very specific kind of wisdom as Prem Rawat), Church Universal and Triumphant leader Elizabeth Clare Prophet, spiritual instructor Ram Dass, and Source Family father figure Father Yod. And it's narrated and musically accompanied by Donovan! I wonder what all these seers and sages would think of themselves if they saw this movie now. Co-presented by Process Media's Jodi Wille, who will lead a panel discussion that includes all colors of the philosophical spectrum: a leader of a current Krishna splinter group, as well as a non-denominational cult “exit counselor” whose primary counselees are defecting Scientologists.
