The East Coast burger chain Five Guys continues to zero in on Southern California territory, with plans for several more locations in the works. One of those is set to open near USC's campus near Figueroa Street and Adams Boulevard, and another on Wilshire Boulevard. According to the Daily Trojan, Five Guys near campus will open before the end of the semester, though the exact date is not known.

Earlier this year, the chain opened a restaurant in Culver City at the Westfield Fox Hills Mall. The franchise started in Washington, D.C. in 1986 and now spans across the U.S. and Canada with more than 800 locations. The chain's site says there are 1500 restaurants currently in development. Wow.

Unlike In-N-Out, Five Guys offers a bit more than burgers and fries. Visitors can customize their burgers with toppings like mushrooms, jalapeños, bacon and A-1 sauce. It's quite a list. Their fries (Cajun or regular) are made on the spot, and customers can munch on bulk peanuts while they wait for their order. A variety of veggie sandwiches and hot dogs are also on the menu. No milkshakes, though.

Other “coming soon!” locations that pop up in a search of the site include one on Broxton Avenue in Los Angeles, and one on Sepulveda Boulevard in El Segundo.

Calls to their corporate offices were not immediately returned, but look out for an update soon.
