Fetishists have known for years that leather is the new cotton. The Los Angeles Leather Coalition — a non-profit that “facilitates communication and mutual understanding among different segments of the leather-affiliated community,” if they know what's good for them — invites leather daddies, bears and their hags to the Los Angeles Leather week. While events this past week have ranged from a church service to roller skating, this weekend's highlights include a dance party, Tom of Finland erotic art exhibit, brunch, bar crawl (actual crawling is encouraged) and the highly anticipated Mr. L.A. Leather contest. No crown, bouquet of roses or an announcer in a dog collar and nipple rings singing “There he is…,” but the leather sash also doubles as a whip. Remember, Jesus wore leather sandals.
